Stress

Stress Less - Score More - improving HSC performance.

Designed specifically for HSC students, this program uses practical stress management tools to reduce anxiety and increase academic performance.

The final school years crucially coincide with a stage of adolescent development in which the body settles into its adult shape and the internal methods of coping with stress set behaviour patterns for life.
Craning over books and looking at a computer screen leads to a number of physical restrictions including forward head posture, rounded shoulders and loss of lumbar curve. (Functional scoliosis often develops at this age.)
The result of these faulty mechanics is, physical stress. This stress may show up as acute or chronic pain in the neck, back, or any of the major joint complexes, but it often manifests below the level of conscious awareness, causing a general feeling of apathy and discontent.

These physical restrictions (not to mention the psychological pressure of exams!) inevitably decrease academic performance and make the precious final years at school more difficult than they need to be. Stress Less – Score More ® eases the burden from an overloaded young body and mind, providing simple, practical coping methods that not only ensure the student realises their full potential but more importantly, establishes healthy habits for life after school.

Every student who participates in the program learns a progressive series of exercises, focusing on postural correction, breath regulation and relaxation. It is essentially a practical course, because we believe they have enough to read and write without us adding to it! The daily practice exercises which take just five minutes to complete are reviewed at the beginning of each new session.

In this way, we ensure the student learns, applies and establishes the habit of:
- A series of posture correction exercises.
- Practical breathing techniques which can be used when studying or on the day of exams.
- Unique methods of relaxation which can be used to help the student sleep.
